Chapter 36

The meal went well and I felt completely relaxed with the guys. I had no need to worry after all, after the meal was finished we all made our way to the lounge area and got a round of drinks. I sat down at a table with Tyler, Flower, Max, Jordan, Tanger and Geno.

The evening was filled with hilarity, it was so good to be in their company again, I had missed them so much more than I realised when Tyler and I were not together.

I was nominated to go to the bar to order the next round, I made my way to the bar and stood next to a very familiar looking man. I was standing looking at him when suddenly he turned to me.

“Can I help you?” He asked with a big grin.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare at you, you just look very familiar to me.” I looked away but it was bugging why I knew this guy.

“Miss Robertson, wow it is a pleasure to have you standing next to me, you are in inspiration.” His deep voice sounded excited as he continued to look back at me.

“Eh, thanks, it is not often I am recognised” I smile as I look round at Tyler.

Suddenly it occurs to me who the man is that I am talking too.

“Oh my god, I suddenly realised who you are, I am a massive fan. You have an amazing voice and I love your songs. You are very talented.”

We talked for a few moments longer and I gave him my business card telling him that if he wanted to come into the office if he was in town he was more than welcome too. I ordered the drinks and headed back to the guys with the biggest grin.

“Who were you chatting up?” Max asked with that devilish grin of his.

“That is Chris Daughtry, I am a massive fan of his. I am so excited.”

“It is who?” He asked looking confused.

“He is the lead singer of one of Gill’s favourite bands” Tyler answered. “The first time I heard her sing, she sang one of their songs.”

“You didn’t tell me you could sing?” I heard from a voice behind me that sounded like Chris.

I turned round only to be met by his big dark brown eyes. “I like to sing for fun, nothing serious.”

“Don’t listen to her” Jordan pipes up, “she is an amazing musician, she has a wonderful singing voice, she can play the piano like an angel and she is also fairly talented when it comes to playing guitar.”

“You fancy showing off your talents, there is a perfectly tuned piano in the corner looking rather lonely, I have my guitar down here too?”

“Oh no no I don’t sing in public.” I answered feeling my face getting redder by the moment as I become more and more embarrassed.

All of the guys started pleading with me to sing and I knew that I would not hear the end of it until I agreed.

“Ok fine, I will do it, let me just warm my hands up, think about what song you want to do.” I turned to Chris then made my way over to the piano. He left me for 10 or so minutes and then approached to ask if I was ready. I had never played in front of so many people and I was nervous, and I had certainly never sang with anyone as good as Chris before, what if I ruin his song?

I took a deep breathe, exhaled and told Chris I was ready. He decided that we would sing ‘It’s Not Over’ after Tyler told him it was my favourite.

The lyrics are as follows:

I was blown away what could I say
It all seemed to make sense
You’ve taken away everything
And I can’t do without
I try to see the good in life
But good things in life are hard to find

Blow it away, Blow it away
Can we make this something good
Well I tried to do it right this time around
Let’s start over
I tried to do it right this time around
Its not over
There’s a part of me that’s dead and in the ground
This love is killing me, but you’re the only one
Its not over

Taken all I could take and I cannot wait
Were wasting to much time
Being strong holding on
Cant let it bring us down
My life with you means everything
So I won’t give up that easily

Blow it Away, Blow it Away
Can we make this something good
Cause its all misunderstood
Well I tried to do it right this time around
Let’s start over
I tried to do it right this time around
It’s not over
Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground
This love is killing me
But you’re the only one
It’s not over

We can’t let this get away
Let it out, let it out
Don’t get caught up in yourself
Let it out

Let’s start over
I tried to do it right this time around
It’s not over
Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground
This love is killing me
But you’re the only one
It’s not over
Let’s start over
Its not over, Oh yeah, yeah!
This love is killing me
But you’re the only one
It’s not over.....

“Fuck Gill… How can you even try to say that you are not very good, that was amazing. I have never sang a duet like it, I want to work with you again!”

“I don’t know about that. Thank you, I am glad you liked it.”

We talked for a while longer before calling it a night, I promised Chris I would think about singing with him again and that I would see him soon.

Tyler and I made it up to our room and cuddled into bed together.

“You are amazing Gill, you never disappoint me.”

We quickly fell asleep and before I knew it it was time to head to work.
