Chapter 9

I woke up before TK and did my normal routine of running, showering, swimming and showering again before getting ready for the day ahead of me.

“Wakey, wakey, rise and shine” I open the curtains letting the sun shine through on to TK hoping that he will wake up… nothing, he is still sound asleep.

‘That boy could sleep through anything.’

I sat down beside him and watched him sleep for a while, he looked so peaceful.

‘I can’t believe I am thinking this already but I am falling in love.’

I leaned down and kissed him softly on the lips.

“Come on Tyler, you need to wake up. You only have a couple of hours before you need to be at the Melon.”

“Hmm, is it time to get up already?” He sleepily rubs his eyes and sits up to lean against the headboard again.

“How long have you been up for?”

“A couple of hours, I have been for a run and a swim and now it is time for breakfast. What would you like?”

“My god Gill I didn’t realise you worked out so much.

“I never sleep like this when I am in my own house but when I am here with you I seem to sleep like a baby, maybe you should stay at mine the night before the next game to see if I can get up better in my own house.

“Let me go for a quick shower and then I will make pancakes for breakfast.”

He leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips letting it linger, that familiar tingling sensation forming all over my body again, those butterflies determined to keep on dancing every time he touches me.

I left the room letting TK get up to have his shower. I went into the kitchen and put on some background music and started looking out some things that TK will need for making his pancakes.

He soon came down to the kitchen wearing his winter classic training top and bottoms from last season, he is looking very gorgeous yet again.

“Thanks hunny, I will take over now, you go and sit down and relax, I will get breakfast ready, is there anything you don’t like?”

“Nope, just do your thing and shout if you need some help.”

I sat down at the kitchen table with the newspaper that I had bought when I was out on my run. Normally I would read the paper in the order it comes in but today I made an exception and skipped to the sports section to read the report on the Pens game which I immediately started reading aloud.

“…Tyler Kennedy admitted in his post game interview that the blonde he was seen leaving the club with on Thursday night is indeed his girlfriend. They have only just begun seeing one another but he was quoted saying that he believes they have a good and long future ahead of them. Her name is Gill Robertson and she is the owner and sole director of the multi-million dollar profit making Robertson Publishing which opened less than a year ago in Pittsburgh…”

Soon Tyler was finished making the pancakes and he brought over the plates.

“Mmm, these taste delicious.”

We spent the next hour or so talking before I took Tyler down to the Melon for their trip to Tampa for the 2nd leg of last nights game.

“We are flying back after the game tomorrow so won’t be back until late, I will get Ryan to take me home because he lives near me and I will come and see you when you finish work on Tuesday, is that ok?”

“Yeah, that’s cool. If you decide you want to come to mine when you get back you know where I am. I will be going into the office for about 0900 on Tuesday so if you were to come to mine I would just leave you sleeping. Let me know what you decide because if you decide to come see me I will leave the front door unlocked.”

“Ok hunny, I will let you know after the game. See you soon, take care.”

We both lean in for a kiss letting it linger for as long as possible before TK left to get the bus.

I sat in the car and watched him approach the guys, seeing him laugh with his friends made me smile.

‘I can’t fall in love yet, it is too soon but it feels so right.’

Before driving off I phoned Lorna to see if she fancies meeting for a coffee. We agree to meet in an hour at a coffee shop we go to often for lunch during the week.

I parked the car at the office and then headed into town for a short time then headed to the coffee shop, finding a quiet table in the corner our usual waitress tells me she will take our order once Lorna arrives.

“Hey girly how are you?” She asks in her usual chirpy tone as she bounds into the café, her thick strawberry blonde hair bouncing up and down.

“I am good Lor how are you?”

“I am good thanks.”

The waitress comes over and takes our order, both of us ordering large hot chocolates and large pieces of caramel shortbread. Although I am very fit I still have such a sweet tooth.

“Did you have a good night with Sidney last night?”

The waitress appears by our side with our order but grants us our privacy and does not mention what has been in the papers and all over the internet. We have been coming here several times a week since I opened the offices so she knows us well.

“Yeah thanks, I had a great time. He ended up staying over at mine but I promise you nothing happened. We talked for hours and both want to see each other again.”

“That is good but please be careful, I was talking to TK and he says that Sidney can be a bit of a ladies man. I can’t face the thought of you getting hurt and I will hold myself responsible if you do.

“I know you are a big girl and you can handle yourself but you are like a little sister to me and I am just trying to look out for you.”

“Thanks Gill, I know you are only looking out for me and believe me I am being very cautious, I don’t want to be classed as a puck bunny.”

We sat talking for a while longer in the café before deciding to head back to mine for a work out and then get something to eat.

Lorna left early in the evening so I read for a while before heading to bed. I sent TK a quick text:

‘Hey gorgeous, miss you already. Hope your having a nice time. Goodnight.’

I quickly got a reply back:

‘Hey hunny, miss you too. Goodnight, sleep well and take care. xx’
